Descendants of Thomas Alberry
2. BENJAMIN
ALBERRY (THOMAS1) was born in approximately 1829 in
England and came to Canada with his parents some time between 1838 and 1840. BENJAMIN married ELIZABETH HANNAH GARDINER, the daughter of
George and Hannah Gardiner on July 23, 1851 in Wolford, Ontario. ELIZABETH was born in approximately
1830. On March 31, 1858 in North Augusta BENJAMIN died and is buried in
Bolton's Cemetery. ELIZABETH
remarried on February 26,
1880 in the English Church of North Augusta to ALLEN EARL, the son of Edward
and Mary Earl. ALLEN was born in approximately 1825 in Ireland and was a
widow at the time or their marriage. On September 23, 1897 ELIZABETH died
in Grenville County, Ontario, she is also buried in Bolton's Cemetery. Census

in Davis Cemetery, Lot A Con 10 in Elizabethtown. It is believed that they

3. SAMUEL ALBERRY (THOMAS1)
was born in approximately 1831 in England. On October 27, 1852 in
Ogdensburg, New York, he married BETHSADIE HALL. SAMUEL was a farmer and
on May 26, 1894 he died of
Dropsy in North Augusta. He is buried at Bolton's Cemetery. BETHSADIE
was a member of the Union Church and never remarried. She died on March 31,

1855 in Ontario. JOHN was a farmer and died on December 3, 1919 and MARGARET died on
October 7, 1927 in Wolford, Ontario and is buried in Elizabethtown. They had no children.

Ontario, according to her death registration. She married WILLIAM JAMES
ALBERRY, son of William Alberry and
Charlotte Bishop on December 28, 1903 in North Augusta.
I believe that this was her only marriage and his 2nd out of 3. BETHSAIDA died on July
25, 1921 and is buried in McQuinn Cemetery with William.

4. THOMAS ALBERRY
(THOMAS1) was born on March 3, 1834 in England. He
married AMANDA ELEN TANNEY, the daughter of William Tanney and Amanda
Smith. AMANDA was born on August 15, 1835
in Augusta, Ontario. She also went by Elen or Mandy. THOMAS was a labourer and lived in many different
areas in Brockville, such as Jane Street, Chase Street and Clease Street.
He died on March 20, 1906 in
Brockville or Cardiac Asthma. ELEN died on October
20, 1902. Both are buried in the Brockville Old Protestant Cemetery
with no headstones. Census information on

was baptized at Trinity Anglican Church on December
12, 1875. On December 7, 1922 in
Ogdensburg, NY she married ANDREW EDWARD ALBERRY, son of George Alberry and
Almeda Ann Tanney. Their marriage certificate indicates that she was a
widow and her last name was Lavier as well as the obituary of her father states
she was Mrs. Laveer. I have found a 1901 census file for an
Edward Laveir and Eliza J. with a close date of birth. I'm currently looking
for a marriage certificate. ELIZA died on October
2, 1948 in Brockville. She and Andrew are both buried in Oakland
Cemetery with no headstone on the north 1/2 of 104, section 15. |

approximately November 1877. She was baptized in the Trinity
Anglican Church on March 20, 1878.
She died in January of 1879 and was buried on January
31, 1879 in Brockville at 14 months of age. |

5. WILLIAM
ALBERRY (THOMAS1) was born in approximately
1838 in
England. On December 20, 1855
he married CHARLOTTE ANN LESLIE BISHOP, the daughter of Abner
Bishop and Mary Ann Dakins. She was born in approximately 1839 in the United
States. I believe that CHARLOTTE had a daughter out of wedlock. Her
name was Scena Bishop and can be found living with her grandmother in the 1861
census. Scena is the wife of George Vout (see his file under "The
Vouts"). WILLIAM was a farmer and owned
various properties. On January
3, 1893 he died of Valvular disease of the heart in Augusta Township. CHARLOTTE died on
January
19, 1918 in Yonge of shock and exhaustion from a broken hip. At the
time she was living on Lot 9, Con 9 in Yonge. Census

27, 1863. On July 18,
1887, in Brockville, Ontario he married EMELINE DAVISON, the daughter of John and Abigail Davison. EMELINE
was born in approximately 1857. She was a widow at the time of their marriage and was
previously married to "Frances Bradley".
She had 3 children from that marriage, Joseph Robert Bradley born
October 7, 1877, who married Charlotte Ann Typhair, daughter of Alexander
Typhair and Mary Ann Alberry (see Generation 4, #23). Her second son, Francis
Bradley, was born on August 4,
1876 in Augusta, I have not been able to find any information on
him. Frances Bradley was married prior to EMELINE. His
first wifes name was Mary Ann Davison who died on May 1, 1872 after
having difficulties with a pregnancy. Frances died on
October 26, 1884. EMELINE died on March
5, 1898 in Augusta. WILLIAM remarried on
December 28, 1903 in Augusta to BETHSAIDA JESSIE ALBERRY, the daughter
of Samuel Alberry and Bethsadie Hall. See her information listed
under Samuel Alberry. On December 24,
1925, in Ogdensburg,
New York, WILLIAM married MARGARET ANN CUTWAY, daughter of Angus Cutway and Sarah Ann
Alberry, widow of
Alexander Alberry, Williams cousin. See information
under Sarah Alberry for Margaret. William died in October of 1949
and is buried with BETHSAIDA JESSIE in the McQuinn Cemetery. It is

6. GEORGE
ANDREW ALBERRY (THOMAS1)
was born on June 27, 1843 in Wolford, Ontario. He married ALMEDA ANN
TANNEY, daughter of William Tanney and Amanda Smith. ALMEDA was born on
May 25, 1840 in Augusta, Ontario. She was baptized as an adult in the
Trinity Anglican Church by Rev. Crawford on June
7, 1879. On November 25,
1909 ALMEDA died of a cerebral hemorrhage. I've never been able to
determine if GEORGE and ALMEDA divorced but they went their separate ways in the
early 1870's as their second son is living with his grandparents, William Tanney
and his second wife Mary Ann Leslie in the 1871 census. ALMEDA is nowhere
to be found until the 1901 census where she is living with her brother in law,
Thomas Alberry and her sister Amanda Elen Alberry. She is listed as being
Thomas' sister-in-law as well as her obituary still states her husband is still
alive. GEORGE was living with SOPHIA
BEANE, daughter of John Beane and Elizabeth Corbett, as of the 1881
census. SOPHIA was born on February 28, 1844 in England and immigrated to
Canada in 1852. I believe that she assumed his name until they were
finally able to marry 4 days after Almeda died. They married on November
29, 1909 in Augusta. SOPHIA
died on June 17, 1923. GEORGE
was a farmer and died on April 22, 1921 in Brockville, Ontario.
Upon his death he is listed as owning
property on Part of Lot 2, Block 49 in the town of Brockville. Census

1865. Not much is known about Gurley. He is listed in his
mothers obituary in 1909 as well as his fathers obituary in 1931 but I've never been able to find him in any census
reports. I've put in a search within the archives of Ontario in hopes of
finding a death registration. he is not listed on his brothers
obituary so I'm thinking he died between 1931 and 1944. We'll see
what comes from that search. |
